M74 is a face-on spiral galaxy, located around 35 million light years away in the constellation of Pisces. Because its light is spread out over a relatively large area, it can be a difficult object to see, despite its overall magnitude of 10.5. A decent sized telescope and dark, clear skies are required to get a good view.
