In the constellation of Cassiopeia, fairly close to the open cluster M52, lies the fascinating Bubble Nebula. At its heart is a massive star, some 40 times the mass of our own Sun, which is blowing material into space. The bubble shape is formed due to the dense gas which surronds the star. The nebula is expanding at around 7 million kph and already spans some 6 light years. It is located approximately 7000ly from Earth. | |
