M2 in Aquarius

M2 is a globular cluster located 37,000 ly away in the constellation of Aquarius. At magnitude 7.5 it is clearly visible in binoculars, and through telescopes is a truly spectacular sight.
M2 consists of about 100,000 mostly old red stars and like all globular clusters, resides in a halo of clusters in the outer parts of our galaxy.
