M64 - The Blackeye Galaxy

If you want to see any details in the Blackeye Galaxy, like the photo above, you will need a telescope of 8-10 inches aperture and dark skies. Otherwise, all you'll see is a fuzzy 8th magnitude "star". The Blackeye Galaxy gets its name from the strange huge dust clouds to the north of its centre. The galaxy itself is a type Sa or Sb spiral galaxy located 20 million light years away.
