NGC 6960 - The Veil Nebula

Copyright: NOAO/AURA/NSF

The Veil Nebula is the remnants of a supernova which exploded several thousand years ago in the constellation of Cygnus. It consists of two parts; the eastern section is listed as NGC 6992 and is slightly brighter than the western section, NGC 6960, shown here.
With an overall magnitude of 7.00, the Veil Nebula can be seen in ordinary binoculars under dark skies, and a telescope fitted with a nebula filter will show it very well. The Veil Nebula is approximately 2500 ly away.
