Ross 154 is a red dwarf star and was discovered by Frank Elmore Ross in 1925. It has only 17% of the Sun's mass which explains its minimal output. However it is a flare star which means its brightness can increase by a factor of 10 or more, taking only a minute or so to do so before reverting to its normal state, a process which takes only a few minutes
